Dear Fellow Yudansha,
We hope this message finds you and your family well as you look forward to a prosperous and healthy 2025.
A Tai-Kai Committee has been formed to continue our traditional tournament. The committee members are as follows:
The Tai-Kai will remain at Saint Elizabeth University in Morristown, NJ, and will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025. This Tai Kai will be open to all Koei-Kan students and a few invited guests.
To ensure the success of this event, we must address upfront expenses such as venue rental, registration costs, awards, and printing/advertising. These costs must be covered before revenue begins to come in. In the spirit of giri and the family values passed down from our founding members, we humbly ask each Yudansha across the USA to contribute a donation to the Tai-Kai fund. This fund will help jumpstart this year’s tournament, with any surplus saved for future events.
The Koei-Kan Executive Board has recommended a donation of $50.00 per black belt. Scordilis Sensei and Lopez Sensei have already generously donated $500 each, and the Branchville Dojo contributed $373 from their Christmas party fundraiser. We are off to a great start! All donors will be listed in the Tai-Kai Sponsor Booklet.
Donations can be made by check, cash, money order, Zelle, or credit card.
No one person can fill Feinstein Sensei’s shoes, but together, we will carry on a tradition that began 50 years ago.
Yours in Budo,
The Taikai Committee
